The “Laboratoire d’Analyse statistique des Langues Anciennes” (L.A.S.L.A.) was established in November 1961. It was the first research centre to study Greek and Latin classical texts using automatic data processing technologies.

As Research unit, the L.A.S.L.A. is part of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Liège (Belgium). Its missions are:

1.            the study of Greek and Latin languages and literatures using computer techniques and statistic and quantitative methods.

2.            the setting up of textual data banks and computer tools in order to make them available to all researchers.

3.            the organization of conferences and exchanges in those fields.

Faithful to its original objectives, the L.A.S.L.A. makes available a large Latin data bank, including literary works, from Plautus to Ausonius, as well as various texts from classical Greek literature.
